Workshop Description

Why A Highly Contributive & Engaged Classroom? COVID-19 has taken a significant toll on children’s academic, social, and emotional learning globally. The prolonged period of isolation has made it challenging for students to return to normal classroom routines and procedures. Many students also find it difficult to engage, focus, and interact socially with peers. Exceptional measures are needed to get students back on track after a catastrophic year for education (United Nations Education Report, 2021).

To meet this extraordinary challenge, today’s teachers and leaders must implement breakthrough teaching methods that reliably accelerate student learning and wellbeing. Contributive Learning Theory was developed by pioneering learning scientist Dr. Sonny Magana as a next-generation model of attention and engagement for modern classrooms. Contributive Learning Theory suggest that emotional regulation conditions motivation, which in turn conditions higher levels of cognition, which in turn conditions contribution. Contributive Learning Theory is the philosophical foundation for Dr. Magana’s T3 Framework for Innovation. Compounding, peer-reviewed research evidence shows that the T3 Framework strategies have an effect size of 1.6 and higher—which is equivalent to quadrupling student learning. Dr. Magana’s research was recently inducted into the prestigious Oxford University Research Encyclopedia of Education.

The Highly Contributive & Engaged Classroom is a series of two highly interactive experiential online workshops designed and facilitated by Dr. Magana. These workshops will accelerate teachers’ and leaders’ ability to measurably improve students’ attention, engagement, and contribution to the learning and wellbeing of their classmates. Participants will also gain access to concrete strategies and digital tools and resources to successfully implement the three pillars of contributive learning theory in in-person, online, and hybrid learning environments.
