Developing Academic Literacy through a Gradual Release Model: Examining the Role of Productive Group Work

This interactive workshop presents a framework for quality instruction across the content areas - the Gradual Release of Responsibility. Participants will learn how to create lessons that flow from introducing new concepts and skills, to building and applying the new learning, to proficiency and independence. They will explore the critical elements of this framework - teacher modeling, guided instruction, productive group work and independent practice. Then we will take an in-depth look at productive group work through observation and discussion of classroom video clips, as well as participation in a variety of interactive instructional routines.

 

Participants will learn how they can:

  • Structure and organize their classrooms for effective group work

  • Plan lessons that require students to engage with each other in critical thinking

  • Plan lessons that integrate the four domains of language – listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Registration

  1. A place will be reserved for you upon receipt of your registration.

  2. Registrations should be sent at least 14 days before course date.

  3. A confirmation email will be sent to you 14 days before the course.

For Payment

  1. An invoice will be generated and email to you. Payments are to be made in Singapore Dollars (SGD).

  2. Payment is required to be made in full at least two weeks before the commencement of the workshop.

  3. Please make your payment either by cheque or GIRO upon receiving our invoice.

  4. All cheques should be crossed and made payable to "Illumien Asia Pte Ltd " with the invoice no. indicated on the back of the cheque.

  5. Any bank charges incurred as a result of bank/telegraphic transfers will have to be borne by the school/organization.

  6. Fees are inclusive of course materials, certificate of accomplishment, buffet lunch & 2 tea breaks.

Withdrawals / No-Show
For any withdrawals or cancellation, participants will be subjected to the following charges:

Notice Period & Withdrawal / Cancellation Charge

More than 14 days - 50% of course fee

Less than 14 days - 100% of course fee

Less than 3 working days or No-Show - 100% of course fee

Cancellation
Illumien Asia reserves the right to change or cancel the course due to unforeseen circumstances. In the unlikely event of a cancellation, all registrants will receive full refund.
