GETTING THE RIGHT BLEND FOR SELF-DIRECTED LEARNING

Blended Learning image.jpg

Workshop Description

Although evidence has suggested the pedagogical benefits of blended learning since early 2000, this instructional feature only recently became mainstream in the school context because of the pandemic-induced safe management measures.

Is blended learning simply about mixing face to face teaching with online learning? What instructional decisions should teachers make to unlock the full value of blended learning for students? In this virtual workshop, you will be introduced to emerging practices of purposeful blended learning to help students practice self-directed learning, while bringing their best selves in collaborative as well as teacher-led environments.

Learning Intentions

  • Discover ways blended learning can support a learning partnership model with students

  • Explore how to facilitate skills acquisition across the four components of MOE digital literacy framework (find, think, apply, and create)

  • Discuss strategies to encourage metacognition in the classroom and HBL

  • Take action to contextualize the techniques in your own blended learning classroom

Target Audience: School Leaders, Key Personnel, Teachers (Pri/Sec/Pre-U) and Curriculum Planning Officers
