Visible Learning: Focusing on Literacy Across Content Areas

Come explore visible learning and gain an understanding of John Hattie’s research as to the most effective instructional routines that have the largest impact on student learning. Learn about the differences in surface and deep learning, and how to be intentional about depth and transfer of learning. Take a look at Hattie’s 8 Mind Frames and how to bring them to life in your classroom. Explore activities and routines and know which ones are the most effective at specific phases of learning.

  • Explore the six areas that Hattie studied and how they contribute to learning: the student, the home, the school, the curricula, the teacher and teaching and learning approaches

  • Focus on visible learning for literacy and effective feedback in schools

  • Learn guidelines for improving student success with vocabulary, reading comprehension and summarization

  • Explore the 8 Mind Frames and how to apply them to curriculum planning to impact student learning

  • Learn about the differences in surface and deep learning and how to intentionally plan classroom experiences that hit the right depth at the right time.

  • Learn how to effectively utilize specific strategies that can help teach any content area such as word sorts, concept mapping, close reading, annotating, discussion, reciprocal teaching, collaborative learning

  • Explore differences between formative assessment and feedback and practical ways to use them to improve student learning

  1. A place will be reserved for you upon receipt of your registration.

  2. Registrations should be sent at least 14 days before course date.

  3. A confirmation email will be sent to you 14 days before the course.

For Payment

  1. An invoice will be generated and email to you. Payments are to be made in Singapore Dollars (SGD).

  2. Payment is required to be made in full at least two weeks before the commencement of the workshop.

  3. Please make your payment either by cheque or GIRO upon receiving our invoice.

  4. All cheques should be crossed and made payable to "Illumien Asia Pte Ltd " with the invoice no. indicated on the back of the cheque.

  5. Any bank charges incurred as a result of bank/telegraphic transfers will have to be borne by the school/organization.

  6. Fees are inclusive of course materials, certificate of accomplishment, buffet lunch & 2 tea breaks.

Withdrawals / No-Show
For any withdrawals or cancellation, participants will be subjected to the following charges:

Notice Period & Withdrawal / Cancellation Charge

More than 14 days - 50% of course fee

Less than 14 days - 100% of course fee

Less than 3 working days or No-Show - 100% of course fee

Illumien Asia reserves the right to change or cancel the course due to unforeseen circumstances. In the unlikely event of a cancellation, all registrants will receive full refund.
